We’re Looking Forward To…
Introducing the forthcoming shows in Brighton, Lewes and Folkestone which the Melting Vinyl team are looking forward to.
Anna (MV owner and programming):
Over the years MV has been involved in programming dynamic unique projects such as neoclassical immersive ensembles performing at Jubilee Library as part of ‘Brighton Live’ and artists playing at the end of bike lanes as part of the Council’s celebration of ‘Bike Week’.
I’m so pleased that we are once again staging unique events this season: In Celebration of Low on the 28th February for the 200 years of St George’s where nine Brighton artists play their favourite Low songs, the layout will also be different as it will be standing with two stages .
My Choir Voca (well Bella Spink’s Choir!) is also performing and singing some of Bella’s songs in the beautiful Unitarian Church on the 25th April.
Grant (MV Programming (with Anna)):
In Celebration of Low – All the artists involved are wonderful and I can’t wait to see and hear their takes on songs by Low, a band I have loved forever!
Tunng are great live and I’m a huge fan of Dana Gavanski too who is supporting; a great bill!
I have never seen Dilettante live before so I’m excited to catch this show, the songs are lush.
Cerys Hafana was superb when we last put her on at The Greys – I’m not missing this one!
Leashia (MV Ticketing/Production):
Gasper Nali – I missed him last time he played in Brighton. It’ll be great to see him with his band; he’s a fantastic performer, with a dancey and energetic vibe.
King Creosote – I’ve seen him live before at festivals and at the Komedia. I love the sound, the interaction with the audience and sense of humour. This promises to be a very special gig at St George’s Church.
Chris (MV Visuals and Equipment Loan):
In Celebration of Low The last two performances I saw from Low, were both for Melting Vinyl in the beautiful surroundings of St George’s Church in Kemp Town, both memorable shows! It only seems right that some of my favourite Brighton based artists should pay tribute to Low in the church again. It promises to be a beautiful evening.
Six Organs of Admittance In the last fifteen or so years, Ben Chasney’s music has been a constant means of escape for me. Psychedelic, spellbinding and foreboding… looking forward to a transportive performance at The Rose Hill.
Pom Poko Anna and I first went to see Pom Poko at The Great Escape several years ago, and they blew us both away with their energetic angular-pop-punk. I’ve had the pleasure of providing visuals for them a couple of times since; both highly enjoyable shows!
Tom (MV Artist Liaison):
My top top tip is The Young’Uns (Brighton & Folkestone) – superb singing of powerful and important stories, brilliant harmonies and an award-winning comedian!
The Rheingans Sisters – multi-talented international folk duo.
Cerys Hafana – hers was a stunning gig at The Greys and will be even better in Komedia.
Eliza Carthy + Jennifer Reid – further comment superfluous.
Alison (MV Marketing):
I’m loving the new Panda Bear tracks, so I’m hugely looking foward to hearing this band live. Dilettante‘s debut album Tantrum is so ace, and I’ve heard brilliant things about her live performances. I’m also keen to see to both Six Organs Of Admittance and his suppport act Bill MacKay – roughshod blues and experimental folk – what’s not to like there.
Matthew (MV Design):
I’m looking forward to Alan Sparhawk, particularly that he’s touring again after the sadness of losing Mimi. I imagine it will be quite emotional. Tunng were one of my favourite bands, so I’m interested to see them play live again. I think the name Six Organs of Admittance is amazing but know nothing about his music, so am intrigued by this one!
